Refered them to several people and ran several sites on their servers. Every time I contacted support, I was satisfied with the result (I learned early to call them rather than chat since the chat support person always took so long to respond and always seemed to be responding out of a "cook book".
Then one of my sites started getting complicated - needed SSL, needed upgraded PHP and mysql (I was still on servers with php 3 and mysql 3). Was told I'd have to move my site to their new improved server group. So I took the week to back it all up and move it; then the problems started. that server (CP9) must be SO oversold since it has daily downtime. Message like "too many connections to the database" were common - daily occurrances. I'm running a business and this is not too professional! Not to mention costing me sales. Contacted support by phone, eticket and chat. Chat was useless; eticket kept telling me they could find nothing wrong with my sites; several times I got knowledgable guys on the phone and they'd said they found the problem, but two days later, the site is down again, or really slow.
And it wasn't just me. The blog/chat on IX was rampant with CP9 problems. They'd take the severs down for 4 hours, and say that they fixed the problem. Next day, site is down again.
I've had it. I'm at a slow point in my seasonal business, so I'm moving my two hosting accounts elsewhere. Just don't want to make the same mistake about over sold servers.
BTW, the president sends out these wonderful emails about how everything is going to be better -- never got any call or contact by a support hero! the "New improved" server grouping is a failure. they have no idea how to fix it.
Until they get their act together, I'd stay away from IX right now.

I have been an IX Webhosting customer since 2002 and was very satisified for years. I would like to apologize to everyone who's experienced problems with IX and I would like to address to major issues we've had in the past.
First is our support, it is no secret that we clearly lost focus and our customer support suffered, we've since corrected that with what we call our "Personal Hero" solution. Basically everyone who signs up with IX gets their very own "Personal Hero", or personal assistant if you will. You will be on a first name basis with your Hero and will communicate frequently about your site and if you have questions, you can read more about it on our blog.
The second issue is space, as in any shared hosting environment there is risk involved, hence the low prices. However IX now offers VPS packages that allow our clients more freedom and space. We've been offering VPS hosting for about 2 months and we've seen very good results.
I would once again like to apologize to anyone having a negative experience with IX and I ask you please comment here and let me know how I can rectify the situation.

One thing I do not understand is why you would sign up for another account with IX Web Hosting after they deleted the alleged copywritten files?

Daniel, sorry to hear about the data loss. Because it became a successful site, started using the resources that they say they make available!
Do not believe this, my website was using mearly 10 % of those resources = about 40 gb space and maybe 60-70 gb traffic.
One day, i found my entire website deleted, they did not have any backups at all and said I was using illegal copyrighted material. THEY REFUSED TO TELL ME WHICH MATERIAL WAS ILLEGAL AND SAID THAT BACKUPS WERE UNAVAILABLE!
i was hosting audio files, all home made tax and the php platform i was running was also free GNU GPL....
trouble is my hard drive recently had crashed and I did not have any backups so they ruined my 2 years of work !
now I have set up another account with them, intend to have the same website and it clearly states that it is GNU software and material. But this time I have a lawyer and will sue them for abuse if this happens again!
It's the only host i have tried but I am not happy at all.
The plus is - nice customer care (excluding the incident when they deleted my website).
- disk space
- trafiic
- good user CP
lots of features if you have a small website, but for those sites that start to be really visited and use resources... you also need a good lawyer!

my first website was a total disaster with IX Webhosting.

I've no axe to grind with them but I had to clean up a set of domains a friend has there.
Google search result pages were redirected to spam sites via code injected into the IX hosted site's .htaccess file.
IX still haven't nailed the underlying problem and it's been going on for months
Just doing my Christian duty and warning my fellow man ;-)
