I would like to leave an honest review after being with Globat for six years.

To be honest I signed up with them because they were offering cheap hosting for a small price. However, my site was often down and slow. They did however improve on this but the prices went up. They forced me into unnecessary upgrades all the time.

I stayed with them because my website was so big and I didn't want the hassle of moving it again.

The turning point for me was the new database I installed. They kept complaining that there were too many queries in my database. I thought this was very strange because my forum wasn't very popular so I investigated. I found out that they were lying to me. When I presented my case to them they closed the claim. This made me really angry so I decided to move to a new host. I noticed my billing date was in 20 days time so I thought that maybe they will try and charge me more and complain later down the line. I didn't want to take any chances.

The cost of my account renewal this year was billed to be $107.00. I didn't have anything extra added either. Beware of the charges after a year, they get higher all the time. Also if you want extra domains in the account they charge you $12 a year for each extra domain. The above price does not reflect this as I was billed at different times in the year for each additional domain name.

I wouldn't recommend this service to anyone. They are highly overpriced and their servers are slow. If you ping other sites in comparison you will see the differences.

If you are going to install a mysql database then stay away. They monitor the queries. Most hosting places do not monitor this!!

And most importantly, they can't be trusted. They are liars.

Oh and another thing, if you ever want a refund they take away $35.00 as administration costs!

The best thing I ever did was move my websites.

Globat has been non fuctional for the past 4 days. They say they are working on it. Then they say it was planned but they did not tell their customers via an email that the service was going to be down. They ran into some technical problems which they will not disclose. They say the accounts are read only and not read write. FTP service was the first to go out. I just wish they would keep their customers informed as to what they are doing and when do they plan to be up again. I feel they do not know they are doing and it is very unprofessional way of handling business. It tells me who ever is at the top has no business running this company and should seek professional management.

We actually got so tired of trying to deal with Globat and the poor customer service that we ended up setting up our own hosting company, (www.Webcrowd.com.au). Our company difference was adding real customer service where you can simply pick up the phone and chat to a real person who does web development day in day out, so knows the pitfalls and solutions required. The Webcrowd system is ver easy to sign up your own account and manage yourself, however if you need a hand we are only a phonecall, Skype or iChat away and happy to help you out at no additional charge.
We are based in Australia, but our services are global.

Globat used to be great a few years ago for both price and service. At one stage I had over 60 sites listed with them. Then about 15 months ago they steadily started going downhill..

Firstly, our websites started to get hacked regularly...like every 4 days. I spent hours having to either remove the malicious script or reload the whole site again, and then change the password..and then within a week it would be hacked again, so Globat obviously had a security issue. Their technical support on the matter was almost non-existent. I did manage to be contacted by Tom Cox, their CEO, who assured me they were working on it, however it never happened, and to this day, the few sites I still have on their servers still get hacked.

I have also requested that these sites not be auto-renewed, but they do still, so I have asked for a refund for a large number of the sites. They were to pay me by January this year. Still waiting, and they won't respond to my emails. I am now seeking my lawyer to contact them and hopefully can finalize the matter. So I do not recommend them of you are looking for good hosting!!!!

I am a computer constant and this company is horrible. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. They charge your without your permission for add-ons. They require you to cancel your account with an 800 number which no one tells you but it\'s on the website. I have done it ones and now trying to do it again and have been on the phone for 40 min. A voice record message answers saying the line might be busy and than no one answer and your discounted. If the record message answers than the line is not busy. I am really considering suing this company for my time and would like to known how many other would be like to, maybe we can do a class acution law suite.
I have dealt with many hosting companies and this one is horrible dishonest. Stay AWAY unless you want be charged charged and charged.

Does anyone read the user agreement before the click "accept". Even the author of this article apparently has zero knowledge of it.

1. "3.2 - This agreement may be terminated by either party at the renewal/anniversary date by giving the other party notice at least 30 days prior to the renewal/anniversary date of the Term (Customers hereby agrees and understands that they must follow the instructions provided at http://www.globat.com/cancel.htm in order to effective terminate services as described herein), or by Globat in the event of nonpayment by Customer or by Globat, at any time, without notice, if in Globat's sole judgment Customer has in any way breached this Agreement (Termination for Cause). "

2. "All sales are final except for a cancellation within the first thirty (30) days after Customer purchases and pays for the service (Limited Money-Back Guarantee) and as stated below with reference to domain registration and promotional domain registration." Hey Kyle read again!!!!!!!! you say, "The lowest available billing cycle that Globat offers is 12 months. Therefore if a customer were to cancel after the 30 day money back guarantee they would be losing the rest of their year worth of hosting that they were forced to pay up front." not true.

3. You say "Not only that, but they will also be charged a hefty $150 “Breach-of-Contract” fee, which by industry standards is absolutely ridiculous." You again did not read.... it states "Globat terminates the Agreement due to Customer's breach of the Globat User Agreement or Acceptable Usage Policy, Customer will be charged a US$150.00 Breach-Of-Contract fee per domain package and per hosting account as liquidated damages."

See the words "due to Customer's breach of the Globat User Agreement or Acceptable Usage Policy".

Globat engages in the disreputable practice of "automatic" upgrades for fees of $30 to $50. They say that they are doing their customers a favor by not bothering them with need to take any action to agree to the upgrade.

Unless you read their e-mail notification and click on the opt-out link, you'll find your credit card whacked for $29.99, $39.99 or $49.99.

(I clicked on the link and got whacked anyway because I had to do a separate opt-out for each domain that I had at Globat.)

I had to threaten court action to get them to reverse the charge, and I reported them to American Express.

Globat are weasels.

They are DISHONEST! Many others had the same experiences as I have, see vistainter.com/reviews/G/globat.com/ Globat automatically charges you for upgrades you do not request. Even if you decline quickly enough they’ll try it again a few weeks later. Twice they pulled this stunt on me! I never put any data on my site nor used any of their services still they claimed in their marketing email that - because my usage indicated that I needed more space they were going to upgrade my subscription (at twice the price, no less)! Then, near the end of your current subscription they’ll automatically bill you for the next year without your permission if you don’t cancel 18 days before the contract is up. When I emailed them my cancellation notice they ignored it. When I sent it the second time they sent an “automated reply” that I must PHONE in my cancellation. So to stop the “automatic renewal,” sent to you via email, you can't just email them (that’s written evidence) you gotta call (gives no evidence that you canceled). They know that email is legal documentation and using the phone is not. Don’t use them, they cannot be trusted!
