I have work on odesk from 2008 and its good enough but now its messed up with scammers and middle men. Means, very few direct clients, most of the clients are like brokers.

I used both Elance and oDesk. It takes ages to get a good rating in Elance and the high credits… well, they are more a way of saying: job finished. I was once jolted for not giving a company a five star rating – their comms were not adequate, their planning sucked… resulted in 4 only – and they reacted as if I had cut their throat almost…

This is a great collection of outsourcing links. I found myself often outsourcing a few years ago, but stopped because the quality was so low. I highly recommend keeping the following principle in mind when you outsource: You get what you pay for!

That being said, I really liked Guru.com

I have personally used (and use to this day) both oDesk and getacoder, both very nice sites! Just because elance is the biggest, it does not mean it always is the best, ESPECIALLY if you need code, which I always get from GaC.
